Chris is a prolific arranger, breathing new life into old, half forgotten tunes or discovering fresh takes on more familiar ones. Many of his arrangements are for youth, amateur and community choirs scored either ‘a cappella’ or with simple, flexible arrangements.
His versatility includes writing for brass or military band, orchestra, string quartet, mixed ensembles and choirs of all ages, shapes and sizes.
Chris has spent many years researching and reviving the West Country ‘gallery band’ tradition, providing new arrangements of traditional or folk carols for choral performances in small venues with mixed, flexible ensemble accompaniment that can be adapted and rescored as required.
Chris is the principal arranger for the Devonian folk duo ‘Show of Hands’ and has reimagined their songs accompanied for choirs (accompanied and a cappella) or accompanied by brass quintet, brass band, military band and string quartet for recordings or at their performances in the Albert Hall, Exeter Cathedral and Sidmouth Folk Week.
Chris continues to receive commissions for arrangements to suit any style, venue or line-up; for more details please email [email protected].
